Features

Everything Lumenkorn does happens on your computer. The AI features are optional and work offline once the models are downloaded.

Develop

Develop view with a sunset over a lake and the sliders on the right

RAW files are developed following darktable's scene-referred workflow, translated to Rust: highlight reconstruction, demosaicing, color calibration and sigmoid tone mapping. Every edit is a small set of settings; the original file is never changed.

Auto in your style

Auto sets the tone sliders for a balanced result. Over time it learns how your own edits differ from its suggestions, separately for each camera and for RAW and JPEG:

  1. From about 10 to 20 edits per camera: a fixed adjustment, such as “blacks −12”.
  2. From about 50: depending on how bright the photo is.
  3. From about 300: from photos with similar subjects.

A slider is only adjusted when that demonstrably brings Auto closer to your results. What has been learned can be viewed, switched off or reset in the settings, and it never leaves your computer.

AI

All AI features use open models that are downloaded once, on request, and then run offline on the CPU or the graphics card (AMD, NVIDIA and Intel). Everything else in Lumenkorn works without them.

Masks

Masks for the main subject, the sky, people (whole, or parts such as hair, eyes, lips or skin), animals and any object you click on. Masks can be added to and subtracted from each other.

Noise reduction

BeforeAfter

Removes noise while keeping fine detail such as feathers. Color noise gets an extra pass. AI repair removes dust spots, power lines, signs or people.

Keywords and search by content

Search for “mountains” finds photos of Mount Fuji at sunset

Lumenkorn suggests keywords for place, subject, light, weather and style, and finds photos by what is in them: type “mountains” and you get mountains, whether or not anyone tagged them.

People

Faces are found and grouped in the background. Once you have named a few, Lumenkorn suggests names for the rest, and you can sort people into your own groups such as family and friends.
